Shopping in India and Shipping Internationally – My Travel Experience

Visiting India had always been on my bucket list, and recently, I finally got the chance to explore this beautiful country. From the bustling streets of Delhi to the grandeur of the Taj Mahal in Agra, the royal charm of Jaipur, and the vibrant energy of Mumbai, every city left me in awe. But if there’s one thing that made my trip even more exciting, it was the shopping experience in India.

I have always been a bit of a shopaholic, and India turned out to be a paradise for me. The sheer variety of handcrafted goods, fabrics, jewellery, and unique artifacts was overwhelming – in the best way possible! I couldn’t resist picking up some amazing souvenirs, but as my bags started filling up, I began to wonder: How do I ship my purchases from India to the USA?

Shopping in India – A Treasure Hunt for Unique Souvenirs

Each city I visited had something special to offer, and I loved discovering hidden gems in local markets and street stalls.

Delhi – The Ultimate Shopping Hub

Delhi was my first stop, and the markets here blew me away.

  • Chandni Chowk was a sensory overload – narrow lanes filled with shops selling silver jewellery, embroidered fabrics, and vintage artifacts.
  • Dilli Haat was my favourite place to pick up handicrafts from all over India – colourful bags, wooden carvings, and Kashmiri shawls.
  • Connaught Place had a mix of modern and traditional shopping, perfect for souvenirs and high-end brands.

Agra – Beyond the Taj Mahal

While the Taj Mahal was breathtaking, Agra had so much more to offer.

  • I found exquisite marble handicrafts with intricate inlay work, inspired by the Taj itself.
  • I couldn’t resist buying a leather handbag from one of the many famous leather shops in the city.

Jaipur – The Royal Shopping Experience

Jaipur, the Pink City, was like stepping into a royal fairytale. The markets here were filled with treasures:

  • I got my hands on Jaipur Blue Pottery, which I had always admired for its vibrant colours.
  • Kundan jewellery and Meenakari work were irresistible – the craftsmanship was truly mesmerizing.
  • I picked up some beautiful block-printed fabrics for home décor.

Mumbai – The Fashion Capital of India

Mumbai had its own shopping charm, blending luxury with street finds.

  • Colaba Causeway was full of quirky fashion pieces, handmade jewellery, and unique accessories.
  • I even stumbled upon some antique brass collectibles in Chor Bazaar.

Chennai – A Paradise for Silk Lovers

In Chennai, I discovered the magic of Kanchipuram silk sarees. Even though I don’t wear sarees often, I couldn’t resist buying one as a keepsake.

Vrindavan – Spiritual & Cultural Keepsakes

Vrindavan had some of the most unique spiritual souvenirs:

  • I bought a handmade Tulsi mala and some beautiful brass Krishna idols.
  • The herbal incense sticks I found here were unlike anything I had ever tried before.

How to Ship Purchases from India to the USA?

By the time my trip was nearing its end, I had way more luggage than I had arrived with. My suitcases were bursting, and I knew I couldn’t carry everything back on the flight – especially the fragile items like pottery and marble crafts. The thought of airport baggage restrictions and excess baggage fees was stressing me out.

Then, someone I met at a store told me about a service that helps travellers ship their purchases directly from the shops to their home country. I was skeptical at first, but after looking into it, I decided to give it a try.

The Convenience of International Shipping Services

The service arranged for my shopping to be picked up from different stores, securely packed, and shipped to my home in Ohio, USA. I didn’t have to worry about stuffing everything into my suitcases or dealing with customs paperwork – they handled it all!

The best part? Everything arrived in perfect condition within a few weeks. Even my delicate Jaipur pottery and Agra marble inlay work made it home safely.

Final Thoughts – A Trip to Remember

My trip to India was unforgettable, not just because of the places I visited but because of the unique shopping experiences I had. Being able to bring a piece of India home with me without the hassle of excess luggage made the experience even better.

If you’re planning to visit India and love shopping as much as I do, I’d highly recommend exploring the local markets and finding a reliable way to get your purchases home. Shopping in India and shipping internationally has never been easier, and I’m already looking forward to my next trip!
